Your Article Directory Submission Guidelines
We encourage and welcome your article submissions to Applied Health Articles.
Both Registration and Article Submission Are FREE.
Due to our responsibility and commitment for quality and integrity of content, we have defined the following guidelines for submitting articles.
- We welcome submissions related to all health topics. Should you not see a category or specific sub-category for your intended article, please contacts us with your new suggestion. Each submitted article is reviewed by a warm-bodied Gatekeeper. The Gatekeeper is typically referred to as an Editor in the review process. However, it is important to understand the distinction: an Editor implies that they will edit your work. They will not. So for this submission discussion, it is the Gatekeeper who processes the sole responsibly for determining if the article is appropriate for the category and sub-category to which it is submitted. The Gatekeeper further reviews article for quality of content and adherence to fundamental writing standards. In other words, please have run your spell-checker and conform to basic punctuation guidelines.
- We do, of course, reserve the right to reject any article that does not meet our preferred standards for content. This includes any articles that may contain subject matter that may be hateful or offensive in nature. Yes, sometimes this can be subjective. And although we try not to draw lines for what is considered "politically correct" or not, we feel the most basic guideline for what could be construed as offensive is the following: If you would not show it to your Grandmother, then it might not be appropriate for this directory.
- If your article is appropriate but has a few minor spelling issues, or something easy to change, the Gatekeeper (at their discretion) may reply with suggestions for resubmitting. If the problem is more than something minor, the Gatekeeper with simply respond with a form letter of denial, without taking the time to explain why it was rejected. I know, it seems cold, but there just aren't enough hours in the day...
- Please be advised there are several conditions that can result in an immediate rejection. The article might be just fine for all other conditions, but one of these silly errors will cause the form rejection letter to be initiated:
- Do not use ALL CAPS in your headlines. User upper and lower case only.
- Do not put (") (') or (/) in any article title. Any of these will generally create problems.
- Do not repeat the title of your article in the body section of the submission form.
- Do not put affiliate links or link backs to your own sites in the body of the article. Affiliate links and link backs to your own sites are only allowed in the "bio" section.
- Do not put any author contact information or details in the body of the article. Again, only use the "bio" section for this information.
- Do not write a sales pitch. Only articles which contain quality, useable, content will be approved.
- Do not submit articles that are "off-topic". This is a Health related library. That is a broad enough topic without cluttering it up with articles on the merits of the top ten participants in American Idol.
- Do not use imbedded links in the body of an article... if you are linking out to a resource then put the full url with full "http:" protocol.
- Do not use imbedded links in your "bio". Use only full url's with the full "http:" protocol.
- Do not put a period (.) at the very end of a url. It will generally make the url link non-functional.
- Be sure to include or consider the following conditions:
- Use only full "http:" protocol urls.
- Make an offer to readers to respond to in your bio. Example: free newsletter, free white paper, etc. Give them a reason to click over to you.
- You are allowed up to three (3) live links in your bio... use them.
- Code all your links to open to a new browser window. This leaves your article open for reference.
- And by all means, review your own article before submitting. You would be amazed how often writers accidentally leave out something important, or forget to go back and rewrite the intro paragraph, or whatever. And it does not hurt to have a friend or family member review it before it is submitted. Sometimes when we are too close to something, we miss the obvious.
