  • How to Experience Oneness or Advaita
    Advaita is a Sanskrit word referring to the oneness of everything. Literally it means "not two" or "nondual." Oneness is the basic character of everything. There is one substance that everything is made of. But one can ask, If it is all one then why do I experience so many different things? But Oneness does not necessarily mean sameness. Things can look very different without being at all separate. What about your own hand? While your fingers are quite different from each other, that does not mean they are separate. They are all a part of the same hand.
  • Two Possibilities: Suffering or Happiness
    There are two possibilities in every moment. The first possibility is to have all of our attention, curiosity and passion focused on what is happening. The other possibility is to focus that same curiosity, attention, and passion on what isn't happening, what is not present, or what want to be happening. The question is: In this moment, what are you giving your attention to? Are you allowing what is, or trying to change it in some way?
  • We Are a Ghost, or at Least Our Self-Image Is
    Most of us think of a ghost as something that only exists after we die. We imagine it to be a piece of us that continues to hang around and haunt the places we lived while alive. What if there are ghosts of yourself that are around while you are alive? What if what you think you are, or your self-image, is actually a ghost?
