Liposuction Surgeons - What They Do With Your Fat?

By: Lavinia Montescue

Liposuction surgeons are smiling in recent years. After all the liposuction surgery, industry has turned into a $20 billion dollar industry, a year. It seems the demand for cosmetic procedures are on the rise as obesity grows and becomes epidemic. People who are hoping for a quick fix are turning to liposuction surgeons to rid them of their obesity.

Recent statistics are showing an alarming increase in liposuction procedures. In just one year, there has been as much as a 30% increase depending on where you are. What's alarming is that people are using liposuction as a cure for obesity when in fact what is needed is a healthy form of weight loss and then perhaps liposuction and reshaping. However, many liposuction surgeons have no problem with the increased liposuction demand and liposuction costs.

Rarely is liposuction a medical condition unless you agree with some liposuction surgeons that argue it is because obesity is considered a medical condition. Really abdominal liposuction or any other form of liposuction surgery is cosmetic in nature just as a facelift or Botox are cosmetic. Obesity needs to have a lifestyle plan in place before liposuction surgery is undertaken. Besides, with liposuction prices most can afford the procedure only once.

Liposuction procedures are really little more that a suction device that sucks that fat out of the body when you want to be thinner. Abdominal liposuction is the most common procedure because that's where unnecessary fat builds. The president of BAAPS, McGeorge said that the actual skill need to do liposuction could be taught to a four year old. What's important is that liposuction surgeons are skilled in this area or reshaping the body after liposuction.

In recent times both plastic surgeon and liposuction procedures have become part of life and no longer hold the stigma that they used to have. People don't feel like they are the odd one and they no longer try to hide the fact that they are having liposuction done. Liposuction techniques are tried and trued and have been around for ever so how could anything go wrong?

Here are some stats you should be aware of. Every surgery has risks whether its liposuction surgery or heart surgery. Some surgeries have more of a risk than others and although liposuction has a fairly low risk, 1% of all lipo suction surgeries result in some type of complication. And of that, 1% - 20% of the complications are considered serious. One way to reduce your risk is to do your research on the liposuction clinic and on the liposuction surgeons that work out of that clinic. Although you cannot completely eliminate your risk, a good liposuction surgeon and a liposuction clinic that is state of the art does reduce the risk.

Most liposuction surgeons will tell you that liposuction surgery is only a step in the process of eliminating obesity. That obesity treatment starts with a healthier lifestyle, which should include healthier eating and exercise, which will result in the burning of fat. Only then can liposuction be effective long term.

Liposuction costs are certainly not cheap, especially if you plan to use it as a form of dieting. Why not loose the extra weight, then use liposuction to remove the remaining fat and re-sculpt your body so you once again look stunning. In fact, many liposuction surgeons will not do the surgery if it is the only weight loss program in place.

Cosmetic surgery is part of life these days. Nobody wants to age and nobody wants those extra pounds, which commonly find the waistline. Liposuction surgeons are high in demand and as obesity continues to be an epidemic; there is no sign of the demand for abdominal liposuction letting up.

Cosmetic surgery is big business. Botox, tummy tuck, face lifts, the list could go on and on and liposuction surgery is one of those cosmetic surgery procedures are high in demand for both men and women. Liposuction surgeons certainly have no fear of decreasing work load especially as obesity has reached epidemic proportions.

There are liposuction surgeons around the country - skilled surgeons that can take care of your liposuction procedures and your resculpting. When you do your homework properly, you will know which liposuction surgeries you should entrust your body and your life too.
